Super Knitter Artist : YOKOO GIBRAAN

I am big fans of super knitter Yokoo Gibraan out of atlanta. I've been a fan for a while and then. Having now checked out her Etsy shops, video work and more, I’ve kind of fallen in love with what she does. Yokoo is an accidental knitting wunderkind who resides in a magical place called Atlanta, where she chips away tirelessly and obsessively at creating weird and beautiful neckwear. She knits, photographs, poses for her own products, shoots and edits videos and promotes and even packages her accessories and clothes, often with personalized messages.

Running a one-woman knitwear enterprise from home, Yokoo is an artist, a perfectionist and a ”total control” worker. She enjoys being a part of the entire process: thinking, designing, sketching, picking up the material, creating, photographing, promoting, trading and sending. She still gets butterflies every time she packages up a new order”. Yep, she’s an amazing woman, who spends up to 16 hours a day sitting inside her home, knitting, answering emails from customers, watching old Westerns, cleaning her kitchen floor with Clorox Clean-Up Bleach and obsessing over conspiracy theories.

Usually this is where I write a bunch of stuff about the artist but in this case I think that a video by Yokoo herself is the best introduction:

Her designs are oversized, attention grabbing, chunky and wool-blended warm. Think large scarves that look like gold chains, bold necklaces and soft accessories that will keep you cozy even in the coldest of winters.

Be sure to visit her shop on Etsy and Shopping! I bet you'll drooling for all her works.
